Wolfgang von Mertz, Esq.

Wolf was raised in Jamestown, North Dakota and is the youngest of 8 children. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1998 from Pennsylvania State University, graduating number one in his class. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor Degree from Stetson University College of Law, Tampa Bay, Florida in 2001, graduating cum laude, and was admitted to the Florida Bar the following year. While in law school, Wolf received a Federal Judicial Internship under the Honorable Elizabeth Jenkins. He spent his law school summers studying abroad in the former Soviet Union at the Theological Institute, Tallinn, Estonia. In 2002, he received his Master of Law Degree in International Law from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. Wolf Mertz was commissioned under the Air Force Direct Appointment Program and entered active duty in September 2002, completing his service commitment four years later.

While in the Air Force, Wolf was the Area Defense Counsel, Eastern Circuit, Air Force Judiciary, Air Force Legal Services Agency, at Dover Air Force Base (AFB), Delaware. His duties included providing defense services to Air Force members in courts-martial, administrative discharges, Article 15 actions, as well as other adverse administrative actions and proceedings. During his previous assignment to the base legal office at Eielson AFB, Alaska, he served as the Chief of Claims and the Chief of Military Justice. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the State of Alaska, prosecuting cases in Federal Magistrate's Court. Wolf has prosecuted or defended over 50 courts martial to include offenses such as attempted murder, government theft, drug distribution, kidnapping, among numerous other violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Since completing his service in the Air Force, Wolf has practiced exclusively in the areas of construction defect litigation, premises liability, auto negligence, mass tort litigation, insurance coverage issues, legal/medical malpractice and products liability, on behalf of insurance companies and Fortune 1000 corporations.
